Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon ended up being one of my favorite parks, it is just spectacular!!  We were lucky to get a campsite within the park near Sunrise Point.  The first day we did one of the best hikes so far in the Bryce Canyon amphitheater after checking out the visitor center.  This is an amazing display of eroded rocks forming hoodoos, fins, and arches in the landscape.  The colors were orange and red everywhere and it was fun running around in the labyrinth of all the various natural formations.

After our hike we went to see the lodge which was beautiful!  The next day we did a long 8 mile hike which included the rim trail and Sheep Creek trail.  We ended up missing one of the trail markers and got lost.  Since this trail is more for the backcountry hikers we didn’t see anyone out on the trail to ask.  We had to backtrack and bit, realizing that we had walked right in front of the trail marker that indicated when we had to turn.  We then walked through an area that had recently had a fire, the scorched trees looked really cool against the red sandstone rocks.  Finally we ended our hike in the swamp canyon which was beautiful.  We were pretty tired at the end so we just took the car to see the other points of interest, the most awesome being Inspiration Point which overlooked the amphitheater and the mountains far in the distance.

A well deserved drink at the end of our hike!!
