We had a short drive to Anaheim from Los Angeles so we got there pretty early in the day on Saturday. We got a nice hotel within walking distance of Disneyland to avoid the crazy parking fees!! That day we just went into the Disney village outside of the park to visit and have a bite to eat. It was fun to see the crazy huge Disney stores and other cool places to go shopping. Elisabeth got a brand new Repunzel dress to wear in the park the next day. We also loved this awesome store where you could put together your own tuned miniature car down to the finest details of the engine and the color of pin stripes on the side. There was also a very cool lego store with a 10 foot giraffe constructed in legos!

That night we went back to the hotel for a dip in the pool and a pizza while we were watching Avatar. The next day was our big day at Disney so we got up pretty early to get to the park not too late. On coming into the park we walked out onto Main street with all the cute little shops and houses. The first characters we saw were the white rabbit and the Queen of hearts from Alice in Wonderland. It took us by surprise how many people were in the park so we had to wait in line to get pictures with the characters. We spotted Mickey before rushing off to Fantasyland. It was fun for Elisabeth because she was dressed in her Repunzel dress so everyone called her princess or Repunzel…she was very proud and adorable!!
We did some of the older attractions for the little ones which didn’t seem to please Elisabeth, she was scared of the witches! But when we took her on splash mountain she loved it!! The 50 foot drop at the end didn’t faze her but the fact that we got splashed made her cry. The cool thing was that the cutoff for this ride and a few others was 40 inches and Elisabeth just barely made the cut…I think if she didn’t have her shoes on she wouldn’t have made it on! She also went on Big Thunder Mountain and the new virtual reality Star Wars attractions which were not for the weak…and she loved them! We had a lot of fun on these rides. We were disappointed to see that the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction was closed for renovations but we did do the new Nemo ride that brings you in a submarine under the water. It was really cool the way they mixed the animations and the real view that we had under the water. We waited an hour to meet Repunzel….this unfortunately was a must see for Elisabeth!

That night we went to the Rainforest Café for a drink and then to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. We caught the fireworks after dinner and Antoine wanted to bring Elisabeth on Space Mountain but she ended up falling asleep waiting in line. So she missed the big show at the end of the night with all the characters, fireworks, and animations on the waterfront. It was really cool. We had a great day and I think Elisabeth enjoyed it. The park was a lot bigger than what we had thought and we weren’t able to do everything but we had a lot of fun! Now it is time for a vacation from our vacation. We are headed just about an hour or so south of Anaheim to find a campsite on the oceanfront where we can stay for the week and enjoy the coast before heading out into the desert!
Hey, have you been to Disney World in Florida? People around here generally go to Disneyland in CA as far as I know. but, when we were in MI, I always heard that the one in florida was better. Wondering if you any opinion / insight on that....
ReplyDeletenice to see you all were able to meet up with a familiar face again (in LA). Many blessings for the rest of your adventure.
I have been to the one in Florida which is newer and a lot bigger. Disneyland is the first one that was built so it is kind of the original and some of the rides are getting a bit outdated. But I didn't mind the small size, there are two parks and we only did one of them which already we didn't have enough time to do everything in one crazy day. For me this was the perfect size for a little one without getting burnt out. If you are going to spend a few days or a whole week than Disneyworld has more to offer.
ReplyDeletecool. Good to know. We may try to make a family trip sometime within the next few years or so...we'll see.
